Freehold property is land owned in perpetuity and can be used for any purposes however in accordance with local regulations. It may be unimproved (just land) or improved with such things as buildings, roads, fencing, irrigation, etc. It is inheritable and there are no restrictions on the right of the property owner to further transfer the property. In a freehold property, there is no encumbrance to the absolute title of the property. Freehold property is transferred by registration of a sale deed, or where ownership is in a company name, by transfer of company shares.
